Hutton Cranswick Sports & Recreation Association

Registered Charity No 700877

Hutton Cranswick Sports and Recreation Association

The Association was formed in 1988 to provide sporting and leisure time activities for the residents of Hutton Cranswick and the surrounding area.  Its 14 acre field is leased from the Parish Council.  The lease has recently been extended to 2038.  The Association is a registered charity.

In 2008 a new management committee and two new trustees took over the running of the organisation.  The committee and trustees are all volunteers and include representatives of every sports section using the facilities.  Members of the Parish Council observe at all committee meetings.

Since 2008 the clubhouse has been reroofed with financial help from the Football Foundation and the Parish Council.  A burglar alarm, upgraded fire alarm system, and new windows and doors have been fitted to the clubhouse to improve security.  The committee raised cash from many fundraising events as their contribution.  The community rooms and changing rooms were decorated by the members.   In 2011 the kitchen was upgraded with new cupboards and an oven.

Outside, the playing fields have benefitted from regular maintenance including, moss killing, weed killing and fertiliser.  Two sets of new football posts have been purchased to replace badly rusted and broken posts.  The local cricket club have relocated to the fields because of the new facilities and a new square has been laid.  The flood lamps for the five tennis courts and two astro- turf areas have been serviced and repaired to ensure continued evening use.

The Archers of East Riding have set up on the site and has prospered, with applications for new member courses outstripping ability to provide them due to poor weather and lack of an indoor facility. Two junior members are attending England training courses.  We have hosted Yorkshire competitions and look forward to more.

The community hall is now used on a regular basis for Pilates, Zumba, soft play, whist drives, youth club and puppy training.

Listening to the members requests we hope to

1. Cover in an astro- turf area to allow the archers, football, tennis and puppy training to use them with protection from the weather.

2. Incorporate the garage into part of the clubhouse to obtain greater use for the various clubs using the site

Events taking place in 2012 include:

25th March  The Sainsbury Sport Relief Mile (which we will be hosting)

15th April   Yorkshire Clout Shoot (Archery Section)

An event for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee

14/15 July Rydale Special Families fundraising cycle event

5th November Caravan Club will be holding a fire work event in November.

All club policies are available on the website as are, in the interest of openness, minutes of meetings and financial records which will be audited even though this may not be necessary.
